Cruciate ligament tear! Flensburg has to do without Franz Semper for a long time!
As the North Germans announced on Friday, the 23-year-old German national team player suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and meniscus damage in his left knee in the Champions League match against Pick Szeged (26:24).
"Its an absolute catastrophe. Franz has got used to our system more and more over the last few weeks and has settled in perfectly with the team. Whole team will miss him on and off the field." - said head coach Maik Machulla.
Semper is not unfamiliar with the injury in his left knee. In 2015, the backcourth player suffered a torn cruciate ligament at the U21 World Championship in Brazil and had to support his team from the sidelines. At the end, the bronze medal was a consolation for the then 18-year-old Semper.
